San Antonio, Texas, actor and Spanish-language radio and television personality Lalo Astol was born Leonardo Garcia Astol on Dec. 2, 1902, in Matamoros, Coahuila, Mexico. He was the son and grandson of travelling actors. He began his career on stage in Mexico as a child, and performed in Mexico and South Texas in the theatrical companies of Socorro Astol, Leonardo F.
